Up and Down, Down, Down, We Go

We are now in Molinaseca. We went up through the mountains to Cruz de Ferro. This is a place to leave a stone or token with your blessing. There is an iron cross atop a weathered pole and the pile of stones and tokens left by pilgrims is quite impressive. It was a special moment for us.

The toughest part of today's walk was the last half which was steep and very rocky. The picture we have posted does not show how treacherous it was. Our feet and ankles are feeling the stress of the downhill tonight.

We went through several delightful villages today. It seems that the Camino is helping some of these mountain villages that were semi-abandoned to come back to life.  We passed through a village that now has a population of one. It also has a very basic albergue with an outside toilet, a solar panel to provide some hot water and an open fire for heat. We chose not to stay there. A visit to the outside toilet not an experience that one would like to repeat.

The mountain views were outstanding. Every turn was a new and beautiful sight to behold.

It will be an early night for our tired bodies but we look forward to tomorrow's adventure.

On all peaks lies peace.  (Goethe)
