Caldadilla de la Cueza

The Camino weather continues to challenge us.  Today we left in a drizzle and it rained on and off but it was much less than previous days. The sun even shone for a while. What got to us today, was the wind. It would be an exaggeration to say the wind was gale force, but not by much. It came at us side ways and then head on as we pushed our selves into it.

We are still on the meseta and today we really had to look for the beauty around us. There were many tiny beautiful flowers along the sides of the road. The birds were singing despite the winds. Many of them had bright yellow patches. I think the smaller ones were finches.

Today seemed longer although it was actually shorter than the distances we have been doing. We only passed through one town very early on and had breakfast. Then it was 17 km on flat land with no towns or decent places to stop.

Now that we have arrived at our albergue and have showered and eaten, the hardships of the day are fading away. After a good night's sleep we will be ready and raring to go in the morning

In the mean time, while inside and cozy, the rain continues and the wind sounds like a howling winter storm.
