A Beautiful Day to O'Cebreiro

We lucked out last night when we arrived at our albergue. The four of us had a room to ourselves with our own bathroom and shower. What a treat!

After yesterday's arduous trek up and over one giant hill, (or was it a mountain?), today's walk up to O'Cebreiro was a delight. There were several pretty villages on our route but none quite so stunning as O'Cebreiro. We arrived early and were able to do our chores and meander around the village. It is quite an attraction and many of the visitors here are not peregrinos.

The church here, Iglesia de Santa Maria Real, dates, in part, to the 9th century. The church is also the resting place of the parish priest who spent much of his life restoring and preserving the integrity of this Camino route. It was his idea to mark the route with the familiar yellow arrow.

This afternoon, there was a fine mist in the air and a beautiful rainbow appeared. It was quite awesome!

It will be another peregrino dinner for us this evening and then off to bed so that we can rise and shine early tomorrow for another great trekking day.
