A Perfect Weather Day

The weather gods were with us today. It rained early in the morning but by the time we left the rain had stopped, the sun shone, the wind had died down, and the temperature was perfect for walking. When watching the weather report on the television, while at the bar last night, they reported that the wind speed yesterday was about100 km per hour.

The scenery was amazing again today and we quite enjoyed the walk. Lunch was eaten outside with the provisions we bought earlier. Jewelle went into a nearby bar and bought a bottle of wine to go with our repast. The lady behind the bar kindly sent out four glasses so that we could drink our wine in style.

We have weary feet and legs tonight due to the fact that the albergue we planned to go to was closed and we ended up walking 33.8 km to the village of Bercianos del Real Camino. We actually ran the last few metres as a big storm cloud was dropping fat drops of rain and we didn't have time to don our gortex and put on our pack covers.

The albergue is excellent and the hosts are most kind. We have even been supplied with fresh towels and our laundry is being done for us.

After a good night's sleep we will be ready for another Camino day.

  1. Bercianos was one of our favourite stops. Glad the weather was better. Dayton and Karen
